Description
Captain Ed's Homestead in April 2012. Note the visiting turkey buzzard sitting in the upstairs window.
This will be an ongoing series of photos taken of a little old farmstead in West Central Minnesota. It is currently owned by a rural neighbor, and his dad grew up here. I don't know if Ed was actually a Captain of anything, other than his farm, but he was affectionately known as "Captain Ed." I am attempting to capture it in different seasons and different situations over time.
Update, Spring 2013, the shed you see behind the house in this shot is no longer standing.

I thought it was time for me to check in on the progress of your Captain Ed's Homestead project. I love the concept of this series. This scene reminds me of all that's left of Wetonka, SD, where my ancestors homesteaded. Wonderful capture of these old weathered buildings, nice composition, having the tall dried weeds dominating the foreground. It gives this landscape an isolated, forgotten look. Well done! F&V

Doug, it is so fun to be able to share this series, especially knowing there is someone out there like you who is interesting in following along. This spring has been so slow to come, I have been waiting for things to green up before a new spring shot, which is finally happening, so hopefully I'll have a new installment soon!

Doug, I just had to add another update I thought you might find interesting. The shed you see behind the house in this shot from April 2012 is now no longer standing, in May 2013.
