Description
Leaving the Light on was awarded 1st place in the Lake Country Journal 21st annual photo contest and published in the February/March 2018 issue of the magazine.
Welcome to Captain Ed's Homestead. We're leaving the light on for you.
This is actually an image I've imagined for a long time, and I didn't even know if it was possible, if the sun ever got at such an angle that this would happen, so I was thrilled when I stepped into just the right spot at just the right moment and saw that twinkle.
This is an ongoing series of photos taken of a little old farmstead in West Central Minnesota. It is owned by a rural neighbor, and his dad grew up here. I don't know if Ed was actually a Captain of anything, other than his farm, but he was affectionately known as "Captain Ed." I am attempting to capture it in different seasons and different situations over time.

Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colours flowers, so does art colour life....Congratulations on your recent sale of an amazing work
