Kodak Vigilant Junior Six-20
This was my father-in-law's camera, and I'm sure it captured many of the wonderful family photos I have seen from years gone by. Loving photography as I do, I find these old cameras fascinating.
The Kodak Vigilant Junior Six-20 was a folding camera made in the USA and Canada by Kodak from 1940 to 1948. It took 6x9cm images on 620 film. It was similar to the Kodak Vigilant Six-20, but with a simpler lens and shutter. There was also a larger model, the Vigilant Junior Six-16.
The camera came equipped with either a simple fixed focus Kodet meniscus lens in a Dak shutter, or a better 3 element Bimat lens in a Dakon shutter.
I love to spend time outdoors, and going out with a camera in my hand makes me so much more aware of everything around me. It's amazing the things I notice that I would otherwise walk by without a glance. I am inspired by the beauty of the different seasons in the Lakes Country of Minnesota, where I live. I hope through my photography to share a little bit of the world as I have come to see it through my lens. I was honored to have my image "Another Day at the Lodge" published in the December 2019 issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine. Thank you, Randy! I actually now found more accurate information on this camera and know that it was made in either the US or Canada, but indeed their wording does sound German. I too love the nostalgia, this was my father-in-law's camera, so I suspect I have seen many old family photos that were taken with this.
