Description
Morning dawns at Phelps Mill in rural Otter Tail County, Minnesota.
Work began on the dam in spring of 1888. Construction of the flour mill was completed in October 1889, and the mill began operating in December. After the turn of the century, business at the mill gradually declined, and the mill closed its doors in 1939. In 1965, Otter Tail County purchased the mill and surrounding land as a recreational site. Today, it stands as one of the county's picturesque landmarks, a reminder of an important time in our local history. Phelps Mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

I always loved this old mill - great photo! We used to swim and dive in the river there in my long ago summers...

Thank you, Bonnie!! Many people have such fond memories of Phelps Mill! The swimming and diving doesn't go on anymore like it used to, but people still enjoy fishing and relaxing there.
